What happens in a consultation?
The appointment will include the discussion of your symptoms, clinical examination, and recommendations regarding any further investigation or treatments. A letter summarising the consultation will usually be sent to the referring GP.
Patients with ongoing pain from total knee replacement (TKR) may need a longer consultation.
What tests might I need?
Sometimes specialist tests and MRI scans may be requested. The reason for these and what is involved will be explained carefully to you. These tests will all incur a charge in addition to the consultation fee.
Private Medical Insurance
Mr Flanagan is recognised by all major private health insurance companies in the UK. Patients with private medical insurance must contact their insurance company prior to the appointment in order to obtain a pre-authorisation code or claim number.
If the pre-authorisation code is provided, the patient’s invoice can be sent directly to the insurer. Patients should determine the exact level of cover and any potential shortfall at the outset. Pre-authorisation codes are also required for subsequent consultations.
Mr Flanagan does not think it is appropriate to be in partnership with insurance companies but will charge within their fee scale.
